Ever wondered why that is? Here’s some information that you might find interesting. It may not directly help you pass a urine drug test that’s right around the corner, but hey – a little knowledge never hurts.

Mother Nature Backfires On Pot Smokers

You’ve probably already read lots of references to the fact that THC is ‘fat soluble.’ That’s true, and it just means that it’s most easily dissolved in fat.

So on the flip side, something that is water soluble is most easily dissolved in water, right? The average human adult body contains a little over 50% water, so water soluble drugs (like cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, etc.) get dissolved fairly quickly. There’s plenty of water being circulated through your body at all times, so after being dissolved, these drugs are excreted in your urine in no time.

But with the humble weed, it’s a completely different story. Unfortunately, being fat soluble means that its journey through your body has to take a much longer and more circuitous route before it finally gets excreted in your urine…

Marijuana Waste By-Products Are Big, Fat and Slow

The human body is a pretty amazing organism, really. To keep you healthy, it will always find the quickest way possible to eliminate waste from your system. But ‘quick’ is a relative term that doesn’t necessarily mean speedy…

The fastest way for your body to eliminate fat-soluble THC by-products from your system, is to first distribute them throughout your fat cells. This includes the fat layers which surround your internal organs. We all have fat layers surrounding our internal organs, or else we would die. So if you happen to be a really skinny pot smoker who thinks there’s no place for metabolites to hide, think again.

So, once THC metabolites are deposited inside your fat cells, those fat cells immediately go to work dissolving the metabolites down into particles that are small enough to enter your bloodstream. And since one of the main functions of the kidneys is to filter waste products from your blood, that’s where the metabolites end up next. And, of course, from the kidneys it’s only a short trip into your urine, via the bladder.

There’s A THC Traffic Jam Goin’ On Inside Your Fat Cells

This whole dissolving process is something that takes time, unfortunately. So if you get high pretty regularly, a kind of ‘backlog’ develops inside your fat cells. And as long as you continue smoking marijuana with any kind of regularity, your fat cells will always contain some level of THC metabolites.

But wait! It gets worse… if you smoke a particularly high quality of bud, then your fat cells will contain an even higher concentration of THC metabolites. Sucks, ‘eh?

This backlog of THC metabolites in your fat cells is why it can take a long time for you to get clean, even if you quit smoking cold turkey. If you’re a light smoker then there won’t be much of a backlog, and the time it takes for you to get clean will be shorter. But if you’ve got a big backlog of THC metabolites built up in your fat cells, then it can sometimes take a surprisingly long time.

Marijuana Detox Products: Can You Say “Big Fat Liars?”

The backlog of metabolites inside your fat cells also means that manufacturers of so-called marijuana detox products are just plain lying to you. Although it’s certainly possible to temporarily make it appear as if your urine is THC-free, it’s impossible to permanently detox your system in a hurry.

Because whatever you do, it won’t prevent new THC metabolites from being constantly released into your bloodstream. When you wake up each morning there will be a new supply of metabolites that have been filtered out of your bloodstream by your kidneys during the night, just waiting to be flushed out via your urine.

So the only way to actually get ‘clean’ is to quit cold turkey, and then wait it out while your fat cells release fewer and fewer THC metabolites into your bloodstream over some period of time, until they’re finally all gone…

You could use the most expensive detox product on the market, or you could drink a gallon of water every day for a week, and it wouldn’t matter.Those things don’t have any effect at all on the rate at which your fat cells release metabolites into your bloodstream, and how your kidneys filter those metabolites out of your blood.

So, any product that claims to ‘cleanse’ THC from your system is just a big joke. Anyone who could figure out how to scientifically control your nervous system all the way down to the cellular level like that would be a friggin’ genius, and would probably be off curing cancer instead of selling bogus detox kits…

I’m Not Naming Names, But You Figure It Out…

The ABSOLUTE WORST detox products are the herbal kits. There’s a particularly popular one (whose name I won’t mention in case they try to sue me or something) that in my opinion is just plain stealing people’s money. They charge $250 for a 30-day herbal detox kit, and of course you’re supposed to stop getting high during that 30-days.

Well guess what? The majority of pot smokers would be clean anyway after quitting completely for 30-days, even if they don’t do anything – no herbal supplements, no drinking extra water, nothing. So you may as well flush that $250 down the toilet, because it amounts to about the same thing.

So What’s The Bottom Line?

The information above, about how THC metabolites end up in your urine, is a description of how your body metabolizes the waste products left in your body after you smoke pot. And if you’ve done any reading at all before this, you’ve no doubt heard many times that your metabolism affects how long marijuana stays in your system.

Unfortunately, your body’s metabolism isn’t something that can be changed in a hurry. It can only be changed over time (usually months), by things like exercise, nutrition, and even your sleep habits. But even if you dedicated yourself to doing whatever it takes to change your metabolism for the better, your genetics still play a big role in determining how fast or how slow your metabolism is. And your genetics are something that you can’t change.

The bottom line is, even if you do everything right, your body may still metabolize THC waste products more slowly than someone else who has the exact same body fat percentage, smoking habits, etc. That’s exactly why it’s impossible to predict how long it will take for someone to get clean naturally — we’re all just too different, plain and simple.

You DON’T Need To Be Clean To Pass A Urine Drug Test

I would never discourage someone from trying to get healthier by improving their metabolism. But the reality is, if you’ve been smoking weed pretty regularly and you’ve got a urine test coming up soon, then you need to get real.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, DILUTION is the only way you’re going to pass a urine test for marijuana. Go ahead and take useless crap like Certo and niacin if it makes you feel better, but just make sure you start drinking plenty of fluids a few hours before your test.

You might not have time to get control over your metabolism, but you CAN pass a drug test anyway if you’re smart about it.

But the answer to that can be dramatically different from person to person, which is why you can’t absolutely trust anything you find on the Internet. But here are some facts about passing a drug test that will help give you a general idea.

Detection Times For Passing A Urine Drug Test

There’s a lot of bad information on the Internet about how long THC metabolites can be detected in urine. The problem is that once something gets posted on the Internet it’s there forever, even if it’s really outdated by now.

Several years ago, it was thought that THC was detected in urine for as long as 90 days. Companies who sell detox products would still like you to believe that, because it means you’re more likely to buy one of their products. But the fact is, for most people it’s actually much less than that, usually more like 4-6 weeks for people who smoke regularly.

Why Passing A Drug Test For Pot Is Such A Crap Shoot

Passing a drug test when you have to give a urine sample can be problematic for two reasons:

1) Since THC metabolites are stored in your fat cells, they can be detected longer than any other recreational drug.

2) No two people have the exact same metabolism, which means no two people will take the exact same amount of time to get clean.

The actual length of time weed will show up in your urine can vary widely, depending on factors like how often you smoke, the grade of bud you smoke, your individual metabolism, and your body fat percentage.

For example, if you’re an infrequent user, like maybe once every couple of weeks or less, then you’ll be clean in 3-5 days generally speaking. But if you happen to have a really slow metabolism, and you’re also a pretty heavy user, then realistically you could be looking at up to eight weeks before you get clean.

It’s impossible to predict with absolute certainty, which is why you shouldn’t trust any kind of chart you find online.

The Only Way To Know FOR SURE If You’ll Pass Your Drug Test

Knowledge is a good thing, so go ahead and try to find all the information you can about passing a drug test. But at the end of the day, the ONLY way to know for sure if you’re going to pass is if you TEST YOURSELF.

You can buy a home test kit at just about any pharmacy, for around $12 for a single-panel test strip. Or you can get cheap home test strips here if you have time to order online.

But whatever you do, do not show up for your test without knowing for sure whether or not you’re clean. It will save you a lot of anxiety in the long run. Even if you test positive, wouldn’t you rather know beforehand so you at least have a chance in hell of doing something about it?

Passing Other Types Of Marijuana Drug Tests Besides Urine

Blood tests have a relatively short detection time for pot, at just 2-3 days for infrequent users and around 2 weeks for regular users. And saliva tests have the shortest detection time of all, ranging from 24-hours to 1 week (with the norm being somewhere around 2-3 days).

Hair follicle tests can detect all types of drugs, but typically a hair test will only examine 90 days of prior history. There are several hair products on the market for passing a drug test, all of which have questionable reliability rates. However, the good news is that THC evidence tends to be weaker than other drug classes. Which means that you probably can’t cover up any other drug use, but you might have a chance if all you do is smoke pot.

What About Passing A Drug Test For Other Toxins?

Most recreational drugs are out of your system in less than a week, and after that they don’t show up in blood, saliva or urine tests.

Opiates, barbiturates and anti-anxiety meds are kind of a wild card, because their detection times can vary depending on the particular drug and whether or not you take it daily. Some are a few days, and some could be a few weeks. So if you’re in the habit of using un-prescribed meds, you’ll need to get on the Internet and look for specific information about the particular drug by name. Wikipedia is a good place to start.

Is Passing A Drug Test Even Possible If You Have THC In Your System?

Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of drug tests administered are for either urine or saliva, both of which are entirely possible to pass. You’ll find plenty of information about passing a drug test on this website.

But if you’re wondering whether or not you might be clean already, you’re not likely to find the answer on the Internet. Go to a pharmacy and buy a single-panel drug test strip, or get some cheaper test strips online, but just test yourself. Passing a drug test is too important, and that’s the only way you’re going to find out for sure exactly where you stand.

A saliva drug test is a lot easier to pass than any other kind of drug test, so there’s really no excuse for failing one. But I have a sad story about someone who managed to fail one anyway, and I think it’s a good cautionary tale. It was a situation that could have been avoided SO easily – if this guy had only taken his saliva drug test more seriously.

Ryan’s Saliva Drug Test Fiasco

This all happened a couple of months ago. Ryan bought my e-book on a Monday, and he had a pre-employment drug test coming up on Thursday that same week. The reason I know this is because he emailed me on that Monday with a question after he read my e-book.

Turns out he was having a combination drug test and physical. Ryan’s lab appointment was for 8 a.m. on Thursday, and he mentioned that the instructions he’d been given said for him not to eat or drink anything after 10 p.m. the night before, except for water, plain coffee or plain tea. For some reason (I have no idea why) this made him absolutely certain that he was going to be given a piss test, and he had some questions about that. In his email he didn’t mention anything about passing a saliva drug test, and I could tell it wasn’t on his mind at all.

Weird Saliva Test Requirement?

Now, before this happened I’d never heard of someone being told not to eat or drink anything before coming in for their drug test, so it’s obviously pretty rare. And from everything I know about how to pass a drug test (which is a lot), there’s no hard evidence that what you eat makes a bit of difference in any drug test method. But knowing what I know specifically about how saliva drug tests work, common sense told me that the only possible test it might be required for would be a mouth swab.

So I emailed Ryan back right away and I told him that although I didn’t have any direct knowledge of this requirement, I was 99% certain that he needed to follow the method I give for beating a saliva drug test. I also told him he could prepare for a urine test at the same time if it would make him feel more secure, since the two methods don’t interfere with each other in any way. But it’s just SO EASY to pass a saliva test if you prepare for it, so I really tried to get across to him that he needed to do this, just in case I was right. (And I also reassured him that it is impossible for labs to detect when someone uses the methods I give, so he didn’t need to worry about that.)

A Saliva Test Horror Story…

Well, you can probably already see where this is going. Yup, sure enough, he was given a saliva drug test – which he hadn’t done any preparation for AT ALL – and he failed his test. I have no idea why he didn’t take my advice. False confidence? Maybe a touch of laziness? He sent me another email after he got his test results and admitted that he was a complete idiot for not listening to me. But this is one time when I really would have preferred to be wrong, because he missed out on a really good job as a result of all this.

So, long story short, Ryan and I kept in touch and fortunately things did eventually work out for him I’m happy to say. He finally got another job offer about a week ago, AND he had to pass another drug test. But this time they told him upfront that he was getting a urine test, so he followed the instructions in my e-book for that (again) and passed with no problem. He sounds pretty happy with the job he ended up with, but I don’t think he’d want to go through all that grief again if he had it to do over.

So what’s the moral of poor Ryan’s story? Just that even if passing a saliva drug test is really easy, you MUST take them seriously, folks. You and I know that it’s complete insanity for employers to be wigged out about the humble weed, but the fact is that there are a lot of insane people who pull the strings and decide who gets hired and who gets to keep their job. And like I said before – this sooo did not have to happen, because a saliva drug test is so freakin’ easy to pass.

How To Pass A Saliva Drug Test – The Easy Way

You want to know just how easy it is? Most smokers (not all, but most) can beat a mouth swab test just by not smoking for a few days. But there’s an exception to every rule, and for some reason a few random people will test positive for as long as a few weeks (my guess is it probably has something to do with diet, and not eating healthy). So to make sure you’re not one of the exceptions, I’d still recommend picking up a home test and using it right before your lab appointment, to find out where you stand.

p.s. By the way – if a lab ever gives you instructions not to eat or drink before you go in for a saliva test, JUST IGNORE THEM. They’re only asking because they want to get the most accurate results possible. So if your goal is beat a saliva drug test, why help the lab?

Ways to pass a drug test are plastered all over the Internet. So why is there still so much confusion among pot smokers about exactly how to pass a drug test? Maybe it’s ‘information overload’, I don’t know. Because with all the different ways to pass a drug test that you read about on the net, the fact is there are literally only a few that are actually effective.

Everyday I email back and forth with people who need to pass a drug test. So this subject has become a part of my everyday life, and I take it dead serious. I have to take a whiz quiz myself about once every six months. And I can’t even describe how much it bums me out every time it’s brought to my attention how many bad ways to pass a drug test there are floating around the Internet.

Here’s an email I got recently that’s a good example of what I’m talking about:

i have a drug test tomorrow so i took 10 niacin about an hr ago. i read that will flush thc out of ur kidneys. besides the extremely sunburnt hot itchy feeling it’s not bad, lol. my appt is at 10 in the morning, do u think it will work by then?

I hardly know where to begin…

First off, taking niacin to pass a urine test not only doesn’t work, it can actually be dangerous. Just google ‘niacin poisoning’ to see what I mean. It’s serious shit when you take 100x the recommended daily dose of ANYTHING.

But even if you didn’t have to worry about going into liver failure from taking too much niacin, the bottom line is it doesn’t work for passing a drug test. Here’s the kicker, though – this rumor got started years ago because of a ‘detoxification program’ invented by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. This guy claimed to have visions or something that made him an expert in everything from the human body to nuclear engineering. No offense to any Scientologists out there, but do you really want to get advice about passing a drug test from this guy?

The reality is, passing a urine test is pretty straightforward. Of all the ways to pass a drug test you can find out there, simple dilution is the only one you can count on to work. Of course you have to make sure the testing lab doesn’t know you’re diluting, but there are lots of ways to handle that. You can take B-12 to make sure your pee is yellow, and drink things like Gatorade so that it passes the gravity test.

Passing a saliva drug test is even easier, since they have such a short detection time. If time is on your side, and you can handle it, you can just abstain for a week and you’ll pass, guaranteed. But if that’s not possible, you still have an excellent chance of passing a saliva test by cleaning your mouth VERY thoroughly.

Bottom line, passing a drug test is a lot easier than you might be thinking it is. Take a deep breath, relax, and use your common sense when you’re wading through all the bogus ways to pass a drug test being sold on the Internet.
