How to pass a urine test is pretty straightforward, but I’m constantly amazed by all the false information that’s out there being passed around. But if you’re feeling desperate about finding a way to pass a drug test, I can understand why you might be tempted to go with something that ‘sounds good.’ And especially if this is your first time being tested, it can be really hard to tell the good info about how to pass a urine test from the bad.
Sometimes I feel like a preacher or something, I swear. But instead of getting up on a pulpit to rant about fire and brimstone and the wages of sin, I’m on a soapbox trying to get through to people that dilution is the only reliable way to pass a urine test. And instead of fighting Satan, my nemesis is a Mountain of Misinformation.
An Important Fact About Passing a Urine Test With Dilution
What about you? Have you heard about dilution and then just dismissed it as yet another weird theory about how to pass a urine test? Well, before you write it off, think about this: you know those detox drinks you can buy? That’s exactly how they work: DILUTION, plain and simple. Yes, I KNOW they claim to ‘cleanse’ your system, blah, blah, blah. But the harsh scientific reality is that you can’t detoxify your body to get rid of THC in a hurry – all you can do is temporarily detoxify your urine by flushing your kidneys with water. So the only thing detox drinks actually cleanse is your wallet, regardless of their marketing hype.

How Detox Drinks Work
When you read the directions on any commercial detox drink, every single one tells you to drink lots of water before drinking it. The reason why is because those companies know the truth – that dilution is the only way to pass a urine test in a hurry. But a good sales pitch can make common dirt sound like the answer to your prayers, so they have to make you believe that their products contain some secret potion that can miraculously wash THC out of your system. But the reality is that it’s the water you drink that temporarily ‘washes’ the THC out of your kidneys. All a detox drink does is provide you with the supplements you need in order to hide the fact that you’re diluting from the testing lab.
The Pros & Cons of Using a Detox Drink to Pass a Urine Test
Which isn’t to say that detox drinks never work, because they often do. The big problem with them is that they’re just not very reliable. They’re a one-size-fits-all solution for the average person, and because everyone’s metabolism is different, you just have no way of knowing in advance if you’re going to be average enough for them to work for you. In most cases you’re way better off just buying the same ingredients that are in those things and custom-making your own ‘detox drink’ at home. Every single ingredient in those drinks is something you can buy yourself in any health food store or major pharmacy.
Another good reason for making your own detox drink is that it gives you a chance to test yourself before taking your real test. With a commercial detox drink you don’t get a second chance, unless you buy a couple of them at fifty bucks or more a pop. Making your own happens to be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a commercial drink, but I think for most people that’s not really a big consideration. After all, if you lose your job because you didn’t pass a urine test then it won’t really matter how much money you saved.
There’s information about how to make your own detox drink plastered all over this website, and a good place to start is by reading the tips in this post. But if you’re in a hurry and you just want it all in one place, then you might want to check out my ebook about how to pass a drug test.
But one damn good argument in favor of commercial detox drinks is that they’re just so easy. You drink lots of water and then chug down the bottle right before you go in for your urine test. Period, you’re done. If you pass, you just saved yourself some hassle. Making your own home brew means you have to buy the individual ingredients that will mask your dilution, and then you have to keep track of what you’re taking and how much water you’re drinking. So, some people just may not want to deal with it. I don’t recommend taking a chance on a commercial drink if you have a probation test, or if you absolutely, positively have to keep/get a job. But if failing your test wouldn’t be the end of the world, then I can see where someone might want to just get a commercial detox drink and be done with it. I’m so used to making my own brew now that I don’t have to think about it, but I think for some people it would just be too much of a hassle. I guess it just depends on your desperation level.
Home Remedies That Won’t Help You Pass a Urine Test
One thing I get asked about a lot is Sure-Jell, or Certo (same thing). Of all the home remedies out there about how to pass a drug test I think this is one of the most dangerous, because it actually does appear to work sometimes. But you know what? Whenever I’ve talked to someone that passed with Sure-Jell, every single person has told me that they also diluted. But most of the people I’ve talked to who used Sure-Jell didn’t pass, either because they didn’t dilute at all, or because they diluted too much and the testing lab failed them for it. If you’re thinking about using this method because someone you know passed with it, ask them to tell you exactly what steps they used. I bet you discover the same thing I did.
Another theory about how to pass a urine test that you’ve probably read about is taking huge amounts of niacin – and this one really makes me crazy. Not only is it useless for passing a drug test, you can actually cause permanent damage to your liver if you overdose on it. Which isn’t that hard to do when you’re taking like 100 times or more the recommended daily dose. This one got started years ago from a book written by the late L. Ron Hubbard (the founder of Scientology). The book was about a purification/detoxification program for drug addicts, among other things. I’m not saying niacin isn’t an important vitamin, but Hubbard thought it could basically cure cancer and save the world. But um, last I checked the guy never got any degrees in medicine or nutrition, so his advice is based on his opinion alone, not fact. And then there’s that whole Scientology thing. That’s all I’ll say about that…
And then there are other miracle cures: cranberry juice (diuretic, just makes you pee more), vinegar (changes the PH of your urine), etc. etc. etc. You get the idea. Believe me, I know it’s overwhelming when you see how much wildly different information there is on the net about how to pass a drug test. You’d think it’d be easy to find out, but man, it is not. In the end it comes down to an entirely personal decision, but when it comes to specifically how to pass a urine test, I hope I’ve at least given you some food for thought. I’m not saying there’s not good information out there, but before you choose a method to go with just take everything you read with a grain of salt, verify your sources, and above all, ask lots of questions.

I kno a stoner who said THE KEY THING IS TO MAKE SURE THE WATER IS WARM!!!! its gonna suck balls but the warmer the water the faster your body can process it thus cleaning out ur urine faster…it is gonna make you feel like ur gonna puke but it helps you to pee faster after drinking water…the colder the water the longe it takes cuz ur body has to get it to 98.6
Let me clue you guys in! Yes THC is stored in the fat cells and all that good stuff but, try going to a herbal shop and get a bottle of b-cl. It’s a blood cleanser and it’s 100% guaranteed! It contains a herb called golden seal root and i’ve used it for drug tests for probation and passed EVERY time. Even smoked and passed 12 hours later. You mix a dropper full with a glass of water and just drink lots and lots of water and i promise you, you WILL pass! Been on probation for 2 years and haven’t failed one yet. Even for jobs and it’s never failed me!

Hello I am 19 and weigh 250 5′ 11″ and smoke regularly for past 3 years. I had a drug test earlier today(I was reading this before I went) the test was at 3:45 and I got up at about 7:00. I just started drinking water. Drank 2 bottles every hour till my pee was clear and I was voiding every ten minutes.( I did NOT chug a gallon all at once) I must have peed like 20 times before the test. I took one aspirin( not sure if this did anything). About 2 hours before my test I bought two five hour energy drinks( they got alot of vitamin b like seriously 2000% the recommended amount) to add color to my urine. And also bought 2 big yellow gatorades mainly to get my specific gravity up. Downed one Gatorade before I left my house and the second on my way to get tested.(I to stop twice to pee I couldn’t hold it all te way there) got there and peed catching the urine midstream) and I passed. This was a basic instant result 5 panel test with temp strip and gravity meter. Also I quit smoking weed exactly one week and one day ago. Hope this helps somebody this is what worked for me.

Ok, so ive read alot of these comments and such but not many people on here are in the situation im in. Im at a school where they can “randomly” test athletes. now im a semi-habitual smoker and also am very athletic and stay hydrated. i, most of the time, carry clean pee on me but forget sometimes. ive had friends use azos that say that it works and ive had friends that do the old toliet water trick and have passed many times. Can someone tell me what my best bet is on passing an unsupervised random test?

Prepare! If this is your first scare and your scrambling kick yourself.
You should know your body. You should test yourself with home kits. Go to your drug store and spend the money and know how long it takes to be clean before you even smoke. Know how long it takes to flush with water and B12.
Good news: most of the people on this board will pass their drug test. I’m seeing massive over worry on many post.
More good news: If you rarely smoke it takes a lot to make it last more then 2-3 days in your system with heavy water drinking.
Well as far as the cut off line for the test is concerned: Will you still have some in your system? Odds are yes. Enough to test positive? Highly doubtful.
Last bit of good news: For those doing job test. Many jobs test with oral test. They test for THC that has been used in the past 6-48 hrs only. You may walk in expecting a piss test and luck out with the oral one.
If you pee clean at home the day before you will be fine. Just keep drinking your water.
Keep some yogurt and bananas around to keep you with some nutrients while you flood your body.

So my Boyfriend invited me out to smoke with some friends, and the last time we had smoked before that night, was the 3rd. but on the 23rd we smoked 2 bowls with 6 friends, and they continued we stopped.. before the 3rd it had been since December, but before then we were daily smokers. Now the test is possibly a week or two off… I’m 5’11” 150-160 lbs. and haven’t smoked since.. Do I need to be considering Dilution? Or am i just psyching myself out??? Failure is not an option on this one.

Im a daily smoker for the most part. i workout 3 times a week and i use this stuff called Nitro muscle mass. basically it helps to define and cut ur muscles while giving u the strength to workout longer etc. the point is that is burns a lot of fat. a shit load actually. I know working out before a drug test is a no go. since thc is stored in the fatty cells will i be able to pass a test anytime within the next week while continuing to use nitro ( without working out), drinking lots of water, cranberry juice etc. i dont have a card so getting synthetic urine is a no go. a helpful response would be great guys haha.

Wrap it in a Thermacare heat wrap. It will be the right temp in 30 minutes and will stay that temp for one hour.
So i was randomly drug tested at school today, and the last day i smoked was last Friday, NYE. I am about 6’1 145, pretty skinny and pretty fast metabolism. I saw that my pee was extremely diluted, nearly white on account of the massive amounts of water i had been drinking. I had peed twice earlier in the day. as long as you got busted when you were an adult and your on adult probation and you didnt get arrested for anything drug related…….then im about 95% sure you wont get drug tested at least from my knowledge

I smoke 10 blizzy a day and I got a drug test 2 week ago I fail so yesterday I got another 1 and I pass. I was using certo,4 pill aspirin 2 pill b-12 vitamin, 2 32oz gAtorade and 8 16oz water drink all that 3 hr before the test . Mix each pack certo with Gatorade
How exactly did you do this, how did you mix ‘em, when did you take the aspirin, when did you drink the shit, did you drink lots of water before, and up until how long before the other stuff. do you take it with an empty bladder, do you try to pee after you take it……? need answers please!
get a small bottle with a temp gauge on it and either use synthetic urine or have someone clean piss for you. use a couple hand warmers to keep it warm. i am watched when i drop so i tape the bottle to the inside of my shirt, and havent been caught yet. i have to drop twice a week for 2 years. make sure temp is between 90 and 100 before you drop
I’ve done this before. I tried hand earners but my cheap ones wouldn’t heat it up so I let the bottle sit on my car dash with the defrost on till it was above 100 degrees. Then stuck it in my crotch between my inner thigh and balls. Had like a thirty minute interview before the d test when I pulled it out it was at 96 degrees and I passed. Used synthetic urine but the test was not at a lab it was instant result for employment with a temp agency
