A saliva drug test is a lot easier to pass than any other kind of drug test, so there’s really no excuse for failing one. But I have a sad story about someone who managed to fail one anyway, and I think it’s a good cautionary tale. It was a situation that could have been avoided SO easily – if this guy had only taken his saliva drug test more seriously.
Ryan’s Saliva Drug Test Fiasco
This all happened a couple of months ago. Ryan bought my e-book on a Monday, and he had a pre-employment drug test coming up on Thursday that same week. The reason I know this is because he emailed me on that Monday with a question after he read my e-book.
Turns out he was having a combination drug test and physical. Ryan’s lab appointment was for 8 a.m. on Thursday, and he mentioned that the instructions he’d been given said for him not to eat or drink anything after 10 p.m. the night before, except for water, plain coffee or plain tea. For some reason (I have no idea why) this made him absolutely certain that he was going to be given a piss test, and he had some questions about that. In his email he didn’t mention anything about passing a saliva drug test, and I could tell it wasn’t on his mind at all.
Weird Saliva Test Requirement?
Now, before this happened I’d never heard of someone being told not to eat or drink anything before coming in for their drug test, so it’s obviously pretty rare. And from everything I know about how to pass a drug test (which is a lot), there’s no hard evidence that what you eat makes a bit of difference in any drug test method. But knowing what I know specifically about how saliva drug tests work, common sense told me that the only possible test it might be required for would be a mouth swab.
So I emailed Ryan back right away and I told him that although I didn’t have any direct knowledge of this requirement, I was 99% certain that he needed to follow the method I give for beating a saliva drug test. I also told him he could prepare for a urine test at the same time if it would make him feel more secure, since the two methods don’t interfere with each other in any way. But it’s just SO EASY to pass a saliva test if you prepare for it, so I really tried to get across to him that he needed to do this, just in case I was right. (And I also reassured him that it is impossible for labs to detect when someone uses the methods I give, so he didn’t need to worry about that.)
A Saliva Test Horror Story…
Well, you can probably already see where this is going. Yup, sure enough, he was given a saliva drug test – which he hadn’t done any preparation for AT ALL – and he failed his test. I have no idea why he didn’t take my advice. False confidence? Maybe a touch of laziness? He sent me another email after he got his test results and admitted that he was a complete idiot for not listening to me. But this is one time when I really would have preferred to be wrong, because he missed out on a really good job as a result of all this.
So, long story short, Ryan and I kept in touch and fortunately things did eventually work out for him I’m happy to say. He finally got another job offer about a week ago, AND he had to pass another drug test. But this time they told him upfront that he was getting a urine test, so he followed the instructions in my e-book for that (again) and passed with no problem. He sounds pretty happy with the job he ended up with, but I don’t think he’d want to go through all that grief again if he had it to do over.
So what’s the moral of poor Ryan’s story? Just that even if passing a saliva drug test is really easy, you MUST take them seriously, folks. You and I know that it’s complete insanity for employers to be wigged out about the humble weed, but the fact is that there are a lot of insane people who pull the strings and decide who gets hired and who gets to keep their job. And like I said before – this sooo did not have to happen, because a saliva drug test is so freakin’ easy to pass.
How To Pass A Saliva Drug Test – The Easy Way
You want to know just how easy it is? Most smokers (not all, but most) can beat a mouth swab test just by not smoking for a few days. But there’s an exception to every rule, and for some reason a few random people will test positive for as long as a few weeks (my guess is it probably has something to do with diet, and not eating healthy). So to make sure you’re not one of the exceptions, I’d still recommend picking up a home test and using it right before your lab appointment, to find out where you stand.
p.s. By the way – if a lab ever gives you instructions not to eat or drink before you go in for a saliva test, JUST IGNORE THEM. They’re only asking because they want to get the most accurate results possible. So if your goal is beat a saliva drug test, why help the lab?

I smoked on a Wednesday night and ended up having to take a saliva test unprepared the next day! I didn’t hold the swab on my tongue for very long and just held it in my mouth for the remaining time..not touching anything. I ended up getting away with the test not even being able to process! So they told me I had to retake it Sunday. I went on runs, took hot baths until I sweat to death, took cranberry pills, drank energy drinks (which contain Niacin) and lots of water, and made sure to brush, floss, and gargle mouthwash like crazy!! I passed just fine. All of my friends said that all you have to do is brush your teeth and use mouthwash right before, but I wanted to make sure!

I am a chemical engineer and happen to be an avid drug user… although my drug of choice is opiates i do know pretty much everything there is to know about saliva drug tests. I work at a chemical plant where you get spot tested all the time due to safety measures, so trust me, I know what im talking about when it comes to passing it.
lets talk biology.
THC cannont, I repeat, cannot diffuse into your saliva from your blood. therefore the only way yoar saliva gets THC conjugate drug (this is not the THC metabolite) is when when your initially smoke it. Finally the THC drug is only in your saliva for at max 12 hours. Trust me on this, Email me if you happen to have any knowledge in the fields of chemistry or bio n ill go into detail.

Most swab tests are highly effected by Citric acid (it throws off the PH of the immunoassays) and also Hydrogen Peroxide. Both Chemicals make you salivate more and actually lowers the concentration of the drug per ml of saliva.
Like I said if you have any intelligence and want my sources or more information in passing saliva drug tests, I pretty much know it all.

I have had a mouth swab drug test in the past, but i am still nervous. i do smoke on a regular basis. and i know that by brushing the cheek cells and mouthwashing you should be ok. but there is always that chance. i used some bought mouthwash cleaner, and i passed but had a friend who smoked the day before and passed. lol so im sittin here trying to figure out what i should do. should i smoke today or just quit. screw the 2/3 day quitting. i didnt for my last one and passed. just gotta make sure that after you smoke brush your teeth and cheek cells and gums and you should do fine.

Gees all these questions, but NO answers to results. I go for a possible swab test Wed. I have taken one before, and I was told use lemon juice. I actually left the temp service went to Ralphs and bought a bottle of lemon juice and rinsed my mouth. I passed. My test looked different than everyone elses, but they passed me. LOL! I will try it again Wed, but for now I have to put the bong down.

I would suggest reading most of these posts even though nobody ever really told us their own results. I happened to pass probably by a fluke. I was unprepared for my first swab test. I must have smoked only the night before or just hours before the test. That was in 2007. I know I will be nervous when I do mine on Wed. I still rememeber shaking as I was opening up the swab for my last test. LOL! Good luck to you!
I know people who have serious problems not using cannabis.. including serious physical ailments and psychological disorders. It would be like someone with hypertension (high blood-pressure), or someone with severe depression, being told that they have to suddenly stop taking their medication for a few days. Hell, most medicines tell you not to suddenly stop taking them, because the sudden change in chemical processing causes all sorts of physiological changes to a person. Pot, needless to say however, is far less harmful, with its damaging effects being strictly related to the combustion of plant matter.. Yet the emphasis on discomfort to the ‘patient’ from sudden uncovering of his or her symptoms is the same. The withdrawel is more damaging than the consumption of the medicine. So, the real problem is why anyone is being tested for THC in the first place. People need it. We are all born with a receptor for THC in our brains. It is natural and wholesomely healing. So blah… I’m high.

I take a swab test tomorrow. I hear from several different people who also took the swab test that you can beat the test 1 of 4 ways.
1. With a a penny. I don’t how but if you put the coin in your mouth the copper from the coin throws off test.
2. With water if possible who a small amount of water in your mouth…you gots to be real smooth to do this one… and let the water soak uo the sponge.
3. Listerine dissolvable tablets place one in your mouth b4 test.
4. With a peppermint.
Now, I’ve never tried any of these. But my peeps have…and they are all working.

Dude its simple just get u some mouth wash in like a small tube and take it with u and soon as u get a chance rinse ur mouth with it and keep it in ur mouth as long as u can it will help u also brush ur tounge when brushing ur teeth do a real good work out the night before cause it will sweat out alot of the mary jane my homeboy said he used proxide and used it as mouthwash just make sure if u do this keep it in for seconds
i passed my mouth swab test by keeping some pancake syrup in my mouth before the test, just dipped it into the syrup under my toung, and i passed, i smoked a blunt the same day, hell yea hoo rah 420 smoke everyday homiez

peroxide works pretty good, and a flush of water ther day before/day of swab test….also if your slick you could also just only make it look like your covering the swab with saliva and just kind of hold the swab there between your teeth alowining it to grasp minimum amounts of saliva…making a test more likley to be inacurate….

A all of you people on here that are going to smoke right before the drug test. It all depends on how fast your body burns the THC out of your system. Some people only need 12 hours. Some need up to 3 days like what was stated up top. I recommend trying your hardest not 2 smoke atleast 24hours in advance. Brush teeth several times with peroxide toothpaste a nice any mouthwash will do & if you want you can throw in sum coughdrops with menthol in them. This can certainly increase your chances & I myself have passed while only waiting 24hrs. I am a professional smoker from the very best to whatever is getting passed around YOU can trust IM going to keep it real & give u the good with the bad.. But I passed my test. The SWAB is really simple to do if you can hold out for a few hours.

This definitely needs more answers than questions, so let me put in my 2 cents. I smoke chronic everyday over the last 2 years
I would smoke on average about an 1/8th per week out of a bong(glass on glass :)). My metabolism is pretty high I dont work out. The day of my test was supposed to be on a friday around 10am. the last time i smoked was tuesday roughly at 10pm. I drank a lot of water during the wait I rinsed with peroxide about 2 hr before the test. The swab test was easy in my case she didnt tell me to rub it anywhere so i didnt even let that touch my tongue got that shit wet i kind of over did it but im sure it was just water because it took like 5 mins to get the result. a guy that took the test after me finished first. At first i was thinking maybe its inconclusive and might make me take another one or make me take a piss test which would be worse. All she told me to do was to give it some air and let it sit. Anyways I passed good thing i didnt smoke dmt or did any opiates recently Good luck guys!

Do you mean are other substances also out of your system within a few days to a week? Yes, in almost all cases. In fact, thc probably stays in your system longer than anything.

It has been a tough week not smoking but one needs a job to buy the herb so I’m going on the advice of 3 days however since I’ve smoked daily for over 10 years I. Will have been off for over a week. How about Methadone. I used to take tons of pills,,,,got off by taking MEthadone..down to only 2 pills a day..but its not from a clinic I did it myself from dealer.
