How long does marijuana stay in your system is a popular topic, that’s for damn sure. And you can find a TON of regurgitated facts and figures on the Internet about it that all say basically the same thing: “it depends on your weight, your body fat, your metabolism…” YADA YADA YADA.
But since it’s a pretty good bet that you’re asking because you’re a pot smoker who’s got a test coming up, maybe what you should really be asking is: “Do I need to be worried about whether or not I can pass a drug test?” Because the thing is, if you can HIDE the fact that you smoke pot, then you don’t even need to worry about how long does weed stay in your system.
The TRUTH About How Long Weed Stays In Your System
If you’re someone who only smokes a little pot every once in a while — I’m talking like a couple of hits once or twice a month — then your body will be clean within a few days to a week after your last smoke, tops. That’s true for both urine and saliva drug tests. And NO, you aren’t going to fail your drug test just because someone you hang out with gets high. That’s just a big fat myth invented by some paranoid non-stoners.
But if you smoke regularly — a couple of times a week or more — then the length of time that weed stays in your system gets a lot more complicated. It doesn’t matter if you only smoke a couple of hits at a time, or a couple of bowls, it’s the regularity of your smoking that’s the problem. You end up with a backlog of THC metabolites in your system. And the longer you’ve been smoking weed, the longer it can take to get clean.
If you’ve been a heavy smoker, you shouldn’t trust ANY charts you find on the Internet about long it takes for marijuana to get out of your system. The plain fact is that we’re all just too damn different, so I don’t care how long you look, you’re not going to find any secret formula to answer your question.
If you have a low body weight and a fast metabolism that can help, sure. But trust me, that is not a guarantee that you’re going to be clean in 3-4 weeks. Over the past several years that I’ve been helping people pass drug tests, I’ve met way too many smokers who just didn’t fit into any kind of neat little prediction model.
If you’re going to be taking a urine test, then the best advice I can give you is to TEST YOURSELF if you want to know for sure whether or not weed is still in your system. You can get some cheap home test strips here, and always test your first pee of the day. That one always has the highest concentration of THC metabolites, so if you can pass that test, then you can be confident that you’ll pass when it really counts.

Is There Anything You Can Do To Get Weed Out Of Your System In A Hurry?
I’m going to be blunt with you: there is so much ignorant information floating around out there about how to get weed out of your system that it makes me crazy. And I’m sure it makes you crazy too, because you’re probably desperate to pass a drug test and then you have to sift through a mountain of shit to find some decent answers.
Here’s the bottom line… If you’re going to be given a urine test, and you have the luxury of several weeks notice before your drug test, then go ahead and exercise and try to lose weight, etc. etc. But if your test is in the next week or two, don’t even bother. Heavy smokers would need to lose a dramatic amount of fat almost overnight to pass a urine drug test that’s right around the corner, and obviously that’s not going to happen.
Instead, the question you need to be asking yourself is “How can I pass a drug test?” I guarantee it’s a lot easier than you think, and once you’ve got a handle on it then your troubles are over – period.
Here’s an example:
Smoker #1 gets high several times a day – every day – and he has for years. But he knows exactly what he needs to do to get a false negative on a drug test, whether it’s a urine test or a saliva test. So, not only is he able to pass any drug test that gets thrown his way, he also never loses any sleep worrying about how long marijuana stays in your system. To him, it just doesn’t matter.
Smoker #2 just shares a bowl with one of his buddies once or twice a month. But he has NO clue how to pass a drug test, and he wouldn’t know how to get on the Internet if it sneaked up and nipped him on the butt. So if he happens to get tested the following week after one of his weekend get-togethers, there’s a real good chance that this poor guy will fail – even though he hardly ever gets high.
So the real key to this issue isn’t so much knowing how long marijuana stays in your system – it’s knowing how to make it LOOK like it isn’t in your system. Once you know how to do that, then you can stop being paranoid about whether or not you can pass a drug test. I know that feeling, and it totally sucks.
The plain fact is that you aren’t going to find anything on the Internet that will give you definite information about whether or not pot will still be in your system when you show up for your test.
But hey, wouldn’t it be GREAT if there was somebody who could tell you, “okay, according to our calculations you won’t have any THC in your system after next Tuesday at 4 o’clock”? Sorry, but down here on Earth, that just ain’t gonna happen.
Fortunately, passing a drug test isn’t that hard. At least, not once you wade through all the sales hype out there written by companies who want you to buy their useless, expensive detox products. People DO successfully pass drug tests, every day, and they never lose any sleep worrying about how long does weed stay in your system.

Hi I bought your book about 6 months ago. I thought I was going to take a drug test because I was meeting with HR. When I did it, they never tested me. Now I’m going to HR for a job at a hospital. I’ve been a smoker for at least 20 plus years. I tried testing myself with your instructions, and I must tell you, I waited about 2 hours after I was supposed to pee only because this is something that can happen when your waiting to be seen by Human Resources. When I took my at home drug test (2 hours later) the line wasn’t that visible. I seen it but it wasn’t that profound. Now I weigh 100 pounds and I’ve been trying to jog/sweet as much as I could. I’m scared that if I do your remedy and wait awhile afterwoods it may not work. I haven’t smoked since Dec, 1st and I have to take a drug test on Dec 28th. I am scared only because my sister is getting me the job and I don’t want to embaress her nor myself. Just 2 days ago I tested myself again (without any method) and I clearly still had THC in my system. I am going to try it again this weekend with your method and not wait so long to pee for my “at home drug test”. I would rather not doing no process only because I really don’t know how long I’ll have to wait to take it and as you know, it really is uncomfortable to hold in your urine the way I’m going to do. another annoying will I pass question but not really. I’m going into the nursing program next year, we have an orientation that we may or may not get pissed out (although I’m taking a test in a few days so I’m not sure) anyways I’m dying to smoke and as much as possible. (by the way I passed a drug test joining the army 2 weeks after my last smoke of HEAVY FREQUENT smoking. I drank pectin (its what is used to make jams) it coats your tummy so it can’t release the THC into your urine, and then I drank a detox drink. I am only 4’10″ and 90 pounds, I smoked weed 3 times a day or more, everyday for the past 10 years, I recently quit 2 months ago, I drink alot of water, I don’t exercise but I have been very active lately.. my pee test is tomorrow, do you think becuz I’m so little and have a great metabolism, that the THC is finally out of my system? I quit about 2.5 wks before my test and i, for a good 5 months, never spent a minute of the day sober. it was a simple dip test but i passed it just fine. funny thing though i snorted a pk the night before and somehow still passed. btw i’m 6’6″ and 225 at my worst. that changes every week by about 2-4 lb. i have a really high metabolism thought so i’m always good.
