Anxiety about passing a drug test is an unpleasant reality for pot smokers. When you first hear you’re going to be drug tested, most people start looking for information about how long weed stays in your system.
But the answer to that can be dramatically different from person to person, which is why you can’t absolutely trust anything you find on the Internet. But here are some facts about passing a drug test that will help give you a general idea.
Detection Times For Passing A Urine Drug Test
There’s a lot of bad information on the Internet about how long THC metabolites can be detected in urine. The problem is that once something gets posted on the Internet it’s there forever, even if it’s really outdated by now.
Several years ago, it was thought that THC was detected in urine for as long as 90 days. Companies who sell detox products would still like you to believe that, because it means you’re more likely to buy one of their products. But the fact is, for most people it’s actually much less than that, usually more like 4-6 weeks for people who smoke regularly.
Why Passing A Drug Test For Pot Is Such A Crap Shoot
Passing a drug test when you have to give a urine sample can be problematic for two reasons:
1) Since THC metabolites are stored in your fat cells, they can be detected longer than any other recreational drug.
2) No two people have the exact same metabolism, which means no two people will take the exact same amount of time to get clean.
The actual length of time weed will show up in your urine can vary widely, depending on factors like how often you smoke, the grade of bud you smoke, your individual metabolism, and your body fat percentage.
For example, if you’re an infrequent user, like maybe once every couple of weeks or less, then you’ll be clean in 3-5 days generally speaking. But if you happen to have a really slow metabolism, and you’re also a pretty heavy user, then realistically you could be looking at up to eight weeks before you get clean.
It’s impossible to predict with absolute certainty, which is why you shouldn’t trust any kind of chart you find online.
The Only Way To Know FOR SURE If You’ll Pass Your Drug Test
Knowledge is a good thing, so go ahead and try to find all the information you can about passing a drug test. But at the end of the day, the ONLY way to know for sure if you’re going to pass is if you TEST YOURSELF.
You can buy a home test kit at just about any pharmacy, for around $12 for a single-panel test strip. Or you can get cheap home test strips here if you have time to order online.
But whatever you do, do not show up for your test without knowing for sure whether or not you’re clean. It will save you a lot of anxiety in the long run. Even if you test positive, wouldn’t you rather know beforehand so you at least have a chance in hell of doing something about it?
Passing Other Types Of Marijuana Drug Tests Besides Urine
Blood tests have a relatively short detection time for pot, at just 2-3 days for infrequent users and around 2 weeks for regular users. And saliva tests have the shortest detection time of all, ranging from 24-hours to 1 week (with the norm being somewhere around 2-3 days).
Hair follicle tests can detect all types of drugs, but typically a hair test will only examine 90 days of prior history. There are several hair products on the market for passing a drug test, all of which have questionable reliability rates. However, the good news is that THC evidence tends to be weaker than other drug classes. Which means that you probably can’t cover up any other drug use, but you might have a chance if all you do is smoke pot.
What About Passing A Drug Test For Other Toxins?
Most recreational drugs are out of your system in less than a week, and after that they don’t show up in blood, saliva or urine tests.
Opiates, barbiturates and anti-anxiety meds are kind of a wild card, because their detection times can vary depending on the particular drug and whether or not you take it daily. Some are a few days, and some could be a few weeks. So if you’re in the habit of using un-prescribed meds, you’ll need to get on the Internet and look for specific information about the particular drug by name. Wikipedia is a good place to start.
Is Passing A Drug Test Even Possible If You Have THC In Your System?
Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of drug tests administered are for either urine or saliva, both of which are entirely possible to pass. You’ll find plenty of information about passing a drug test on this website.
But if you’re wondering whether or not you might be clean already, you’re not likely to find the answer on the Internet. Go to a pharmacy and buy a single-panel drug test strip, or get some cheaper test strips online, but just test yourself. Passing a drug test is too important, and that’s the only way you’re going to find out for sure exactly where you stand.

i go to the methadone clinic everyday, i get mouth swab about once every 2 weeks, i dabble in many different drugs, none of which i use regularly, however i usually use something once or twice a week. i have passed all of my drug tests for the last 5 months
I took a drug screening this morning. I smoke about 2-3 times a week, low to mid grade in the form of hitter rods. I have been clean for 11 days with little exercise. I am 6′ tall 175 fairly high metabolism. I am very nervous as I was relying on the substitution method but hit a bump in the road.
When I showed up, I was told that I had to provide two samples. I used my subs urine on the first test which was tested immediately using a quick test method. Results were negative & I signed the form.
My second test is where I am nervous. My test was using my 3rd urination of the day which was water forced (ie – had to drink to pee). I was able to use a small amount of leftover sub urine, but not very much was left – barely enough to Coat the bottom of the container. As I was out of options, I had to provide my own sample.

Hi, i just reencently quit 2 days ago. i weigh between 125 n 135 im 5’7 20 and have a extremly high metabolism. i burned 300 cals in the past 2 days running. i was a heavy user smoking really really good budz. i have to pass a military drug test for the navy which has a zero tolerance policy so i have to pass this test. my test date is march 1st. i take 2000mgs of niacin and drink water n gatorade, while wrking out. i sweat alot and i hae a suana suit. does anyone think ill be able to pass this test if i had to take it in 2 weeks? or could help me how can u tell how much ng/ml of thc would be left in me after i burned 1050 cals in 1 week 300 cals every 2 days.

It’s impossible to figure that out, you’d have to have access to high tech lab equipment. We’re all just too different.
The main thing in your favor is having advance notice. Those things you’re doing really won’t help much, but they won’t hurt either. Just keep working out and try to burn off some fat, that’s the only thing that will have any direct effect.
But depending on your individual metabolism, you might be clean by March 1st even if you did nothing. The only way to know for sure where you stand is to get some test strips and use one every 5-7 days or so to monitor yourself. Test yourself in the morning with your first pee of the day (the most concentrated), and when you can pass that test then you know you’re clean.
im 18 years of age and have a physical exam and im scared that it will show up..last time i smoked was about more than 2 weeks ago.. I just usualy smell the smoke because im use to it around people.. My exam isnt till feb4 i think… Does anyone know if i can be clean by then?? Or so i cant to do something?

I was just wondering is their any quick fixes for passing a saliva test? I smoke everyday but was told that all toxins are gone out of saliva after 72 hours. Over the past month and a half I smoked about an 8th or so of pretty good stuff. Come to find out that I have to pass a test on saturday for an emt class. The instructor said it is for liability purposes since we will be doing clinical rotations in a local emergency room and people have been caught using the synthetic samples. I have been drinking lots of water and picked up an at-home test kit with the results being positive. I went to my local smoke shop and there were tons of different options. I would like to know what will produce a negative test without wasting my money on a product that will fail my test. Any help is appreciated.

Dude, when I was on juvenile probation, I smoked 2 blunts the day before my last piss test. If I failed I got 2-3 years prison without question. I didn’t drink water or anything and passed somehow. I’m very skinny and I didn’t smoke all the time back then. But yeah, you can do it in 10 days for sure. Without a doubt. Don’t you love having a fast metabolism?

i got a job with a cruise line who will be randomly drug testing me throughout my contract.
here’s the thing:
i am a chronic pot smoker, but when i found out about the job, i quit. (just to be safe – not to mention to start getting in the habit of not smoking) i was thinking about borrowing my ‘non pot head’ friends piss for a test, but if they test me again in a few months on the boat, it may show up positive still…right? then what… pre employment test negative…. and then test positive on the boat… they’ll think i smoked while employed wont they??
or i could just hope for the best and drink lots of water….cranberry….w/e…..and hope that i dilute my piss enough for them to find only small trace amounts of THC.

If you want to pass a drug test, eat something with a lot of Roboflavin. I mean lots. Eat it till you puke I guess, wherever you can find Riboflavin. Drink f loads of water as well. Don’t smoke anymore. Ta Da! After a week of drinking gallons I mean gallons, and f loads of Riboflavin, you should be cool.

I quit smoking for 2 months, then smoked less than half a joint on friday (5 days ago)… have to drug test tomorrow morning giving me 5 and a half days clean. The half of joint was swag, and shared with 3 people… Took a home test and it said negative, but i drink ALOT of water every day… ( try to keep my pee clear even when i am not worrying about drug tests )… Should i believe what this test told me? or go get a detox kit?
